Hello! I'm Erika,

I laugh a lot.  I hug everyone I'm introduced to. I get excited about anything I can because I know life is more full when you're excited. When I'm not photographing crazy-in-love adventurous couples, you can find me climbing mountains or basking in the sweet, salty air of the sea - usually with my husband, Stephen.  I'm pumped you're here; let's be friends.

I'm turning into my mother || Alyssa || Styled Portraits

April 17, 2015 in Portraits

This week has really gotten the best of me.  HOW is it already Friday!?  I'm finding that without lists or a schedule, I get a lot done but don't feel very accomplished because there is always another thing to do.  I used to HATE my mother's lists - it always showed how many chores I had to do that day. But now,  I'm in love with them, I rely on them, I need them to stay sane.  Huh, loving lists and worrying about my sanity...I really am turning into my mother!

Regardless, I'm finding that I need to celebrate the little wins in life.  Each day I'm trying to write down two or three things that if I get done, will mean it was a good day.  And if I don't get them done...I'm not sure.  So far, I've been eating ice cream, but that can't be right, can it?  I should probably come up with a better treat yo self system.

Anyways, today's list said it would be a GREAT day if I shared this desert queen with you.  Alyssa and I went into Belle Isle's Conservatory and took some boho goodness with us for this styled shoot in the dead of winter to get us through.  Seriously, if you live in the midwest, conservatories are the best medicine I've found for our 6 month long winters.

So how about you guys?  What do you do to make you feel like you had a good day?  How do you keep yourself accountable to being productive?  I'd love to hear your magic formulas in the comments since mine currently consists of lists and ice cream.

Cheers to conservatories, lists, and the weekend! xoxo
